Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 6, 2026

1. Introduction

GoonWall ("Software", "we", "us") is a desktop video wall application developed and distributed by an independent developer. This Privacy Policy describes what information GoonWall collects, how it is used, and the choices you have about that information.

We take privacy seriously. The short version: GoonWall does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. Your media files and usage data never leave your device.

2. Information We Collect

GoonWall does not phone home. There are no analytics, no telemetry calls, no crash reporting servers, and no usage tracking of any kind built into the desktop application. The app runs entirely offline once installed.

The following data is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

  • Settings file — your preferences, volume levels, A/B loop points, cell assignments, and library collections, stored as a JSON file in your Windows AppData folder.
  • Session data — local logs for crash diagnostics (kept in your AppData folder, never sent anywhere automatically).
  • License state — a locally cached record of whether your Pro license key has been validated. The validation call itself goes to Lemon Squeezy (see §3).
  • Media file paths — file paths and filenames for videos you add to your wall, stored locally in the settings file. GoonWall does not read or access the content of your files beyond what is necessary for playback.

GoonWall does not collect your name, email address, IP address, device identifiers, or any other personally identifying information from within the application.

3. Payment Information

Pro licenses are sold through Lemon Squeezy (lemonsqueezy.com), our payment processor and merchant of record. All payment transactions — including credit card numbers, billing addresses, and receipts — are handled exclusively by Lemon Squeezy.

The Developer never sees, stores, or processes your payment card details. When you purchase a Pro license, your transaction is governed by Lemon Squeezy's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service in addition to these.

When you activate a license key inside GoonWall, the app makes a one-time validation call to the Lemon Squeezy API to confirm the key is valid. This call includes only the license key itself — no personal information, no usage data. Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy governs how they handle this request.

4. User-Provided Content

GoonWall is a local playback tool. Any videos, images, or other media files you load into the application are processed entirely on your own device. GoonWall does not upload, transmit, index, hash, or report any information about the content of your media files to any external server.

You are solely responsible for the legality of the content you play within GoonWall. See the Terms of Service for more detail on content responsibilities and copyright obligations.

5. Bug Reporting

When you choose to use the "Report a Bug" button in the Extras tab, some diagnostic information is compiled and emailed to us to help identify and fix issues. This is entirely opt-in — no data is sent unless you explicitly submit a report.

What a bug report may include:

Recent entries from your local error log, your current settings file (preferences, volume levels, A/B points), your GoonWall version, Python version, and Windows platform information. You have the option to uncheck "Include crash logs and current settings" before sending if you prefer to submit a description only.

These reports do not include:

  • Your personal videos, media files, or any file content
  • Your collections, favorites, or per-video settings beyond what is in the settings file
  • Any information that could identify you personally
  • Anything transmitted without your explicit action

Bug reports are sent via Resend, a transactional email API. Reports are used solely for diagnosing and improving GoonWall. If the send fails (e.g. no internet connection), the report is saved locally to your AppData folder and nothing is transmitted.

6. Third-Party Services

GoonWall's desktop application integrates with or depends on the following third parties. Each third party operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review:

  • Lemon Squeezy — payment processor and license key management. Privacy Policy →
  • Resend — transactional email service used to receive bug reports you choose to submit. Only contacted when you explicitly send a report. Privacy Policy →
  • libmpv / MPV — the open-source media engine used for video playback. Runs entirely locally; no data is sent to MPV or its developers.
  • Remote Control feature (Pro) — if enabled, GoonWall spins up a local web server on your network so you can control playback from your phone. This server is only accessible on your local network, is token-secured, and is disabled when the feature is turned off. No data passes through any external server.

This website (goonwall.net) may use standard web hosting analytics (page views, referrer, browser type) provided by the web hosting provider. This is entirely separate from the desktop application.

7. Children's Privacy

GoonWall is intended for adults only (18+ or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has accessed or purchased GoonWall, please contact us using the method described in §10 and we will take appropriate action.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

Because GoonWall stores all data locally, you are in full control of it. To delete your data:

  • Uninstall GoonWall from your system.
  • Delete the %APPDATA%\VideoWall folder on Windows, which contains all settings, logs, and cached data.

There is no account to delete and nothing stored on our servers to request removal of.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Where feasible, significant changes will also be communicated via an in-app notice in the next GoonWall update. Continued use of GoonWall after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

10. Contact & Support

To report a bug, request a feature, or get in touch, please use the "Contact Us" button located in the Extras tab inside the app.

Because GoonWall does not store personal data, we cannot respond to data subject access or erasure requests — there is simply nothing stored on our end to access or delete.

For purchasing terms, refund policy, and license conditions, see the Terms of Service.
